The
Fine Arts Museum is one of three museums housed in the Palais des Rohan just behind the Cathedral on the River Ill, and the only museum we managed to visit during our visit to Strasbourg. Its collection includes French, Italian, Spanish, Flemish, and Dutch masters. I could not take photos inside with my flash. Three paintings that I especially liked were a
Mater Dolorosa by El Greco;
La Vierge Consolatrice by William Bouguereau; and
Femme au rosier by Gustave Brion. They are sublime!
In the evening, we all went to Audrey and Thomas' apartment for drinks and snacks. It was our first opportunity to make the acquaintance of Thomas, his parents, the witnesses, and friends.
